Excellent performance everywhere

Nürtingen, 11. June 2010. Metabo, the leading brand for crosscut and mitre saws in Europe, has expanded its product range to include further professional models with a tensioning function thereby setting a new standard in this field once again. The new halfstationary machines "KGS 216 Plus", "KGS 254 Plus", "KGS 254 I Plus" and "KGS 315 Plus" combine a powerful machine concept with ergonomic and practical details, simple operation, a sturdy design and the most mature chip extraction system. Thanks to their all-round character and, depending on the type, very high cutting widths of up to 120 mm they are comfortable tools for all craftsman on the building site even when unusually large workpieces needed to be handled.

The new products that will be available with immediate effect are very variable as far as the application possibilities are concerned. For example, the "KGS 315 Plus" can be used to cut beams up to 320 x 120 mm in size. Also, this machine, which is the lightest in its class weighing just 26 kg, can cut timber beams and girders in thickness up to 120 mm and also plastic ducts or aluminium profiles. The unrivalled powerful 2200 Watt motor allows fast work progress. It also has a 315 mm diameter carbide saw blade with 84 teeth which works at a speed of 67 m/s. The "KGS 254 Plus" is slightly lighter at 24 kg and is delivered with a 60 teeth carbide saw blade with a diameter of 254 mm and a 2000 Watt motor. When used for straight cutting, it achieves a cutting width of 305 mm and a cutting depth of 90 mm. When used to make 45° double mitre cuts, it reaches a cutting width of 214 mm and a cutting depth of 54 mm.

Apart from differences in weight, saw blade size, cutting dimensions and motor sizes, the "KGS 216 Plus", "KGS 254 Plus" and "KGS 315 Plus" all have the same features. The Vario-Constamatic (VC) full-wave electronics allow various materials to be cut correctly. The most mature chip extraction system on the market with a second extraction point directly at the cutting point ensure very good extraction values and therefore a clean and healthy work environment. The saddled maintenance-free universal motor always allows a clear view of the workpiece or the cutting area from all sides. As standard the machine is equipped with a grid-connected flange laser to ensure accurate cutting. A lamp is also available as optional extra to illuminate the work area if the light at the building site is poor.

Easy operation from the front
Due to the fact that the saw head can be inclined on both sides up to an angle of 46°, the laminated side of the material faces upwards for all cuts. This guarantees clean cutting edges. The user can steplessly adjust the machine for mitre cuts from 47° left to 60° right using the large turntable. Alternatively the most common angles can be quickly set the given stop points. In all cases, mitre cuts can be performed in one work step. An integrated cutting depth limiter helps to make exact groove cuts. The angle information can be clearly read on the inclination and mitre scales from all sides. Regardless of which operating lever you want to use: you do not have to leave your work position in front of the machine. All adjustments can be made easily from the front. This saves time.

The "KGS Plus" models excel both in mobile and stationary use. Thanks to the transport lock, ergonomic carrying handles and the relatively low weight, the machines are very easy to move allowing them to be used at different sites. The model "KGS 254 I Plus" equipped with the induction motor is also perfectly suited for stationary use. The extractable table width extension on both sides offer an even bigger support surface made of sturdy die cast aluminium. High guide profiles that can be moved at the side for improved fixing and guiding of larger objects, the workpiece clamping unit and the tool-free, patended Metabo quick saw blade change system are also positive aspects. One special model within the new "KGS Plus" range is the type "KGS 254 I Plus". In contrast to the other machines, it has an 1800 Watt induction motor. Its strengths: quiet, powerful working, more precision and running smoothness, and a higher service life.

In the wide accessories range, professional users, such as carpenters, interior finishers, painters and bottomers etc., will find the machine stand "KSU 400", a longitudinal guide fence, a table extension and high-quality material-specific saw blades of the categories "power cut", "precision cut" and "multi cut". Extraction devices are offered both for mobile and stationary use.

Basic tools for the building trade
In addition to the "KGS Plus" models, the new, "KS Plus" models from Metabo that are available with immediate effect, stand out thanks to a high level of precision in every step. On the building site or in the workshop: the "KS 305 Plus" and "KS 254 Plus" make their mark thanks to their large cutting depths of 100 mm and/or 90 mm. With the direct saw head bearing, grid-connected flange laser and integrated extraction channel for effective chip removal, the machines are ideal as basic tools even for complicated cutting tasks. For mitre cuts, the work area ranges from 47° left to 58° right, for incline cuts 47° on both sides. The powerful 2000 Watt or 1800 Watt universal motor can even saw through thick beams easily. The workpiece clamping unit, the high lateral sliding support surfaces and, as an option, the LED lamp also facilitate easy handling.
