New chop and mitre saw products: “KS 216 Lasercut”, “KGS 216” and “KGS 254”: robust and versatileAfter the successful launch of a new range of industry leading cordless machines in the hand-held power tool segment as well as the innovative universal garden shear “PowerCutter”, Metabo is now making powerful waves in its chop and mitre saw area of competence, whereby the Nürtingen-based company not only hopes to convince users with mere power but also with versatility and an extensive range of serial features. A lamp already integrated in the factory and a mains-powered laser mean that all tasks performed by the new “KS 216 Lasercut”, “KGS 216” and “KGS 254” models are clearly visible and accurate. And the same applies to the scope of supply: a lockable pull-out bench extension which is conveniently operated from the front and facilitates handling of wide or bulky objects. The contact faces on each side made of robust aluminium offer stable “Stop Blocks” which also simplify sawing of pieces of the same length in their capacity as cross-cutting limits. In each of the three models, the saw head swivels smoothly up to 45° to the left for inclined cuts. The large rotary table enables the user to adjust the machines for mitre cuts by maximum 47° to the left and right. Shift cuts (mitre and incline on a single cut surface) can therefore be performed in one go. Standard working angles are facilitated by five fixed latched positions. And apparently, additional angles are also indicated and can be read from any working position on the incline and mitre scales. Convenience and safety at the same time are promised by the serial workpiece clamping fixture as well as the (optional) robust “KSU 400” machine stand with long limit profiles which can be slid to the side. If necessary, this enables larger workpieces to be secured and guided even better, claims the manufacturer. The extras for the “KSU 400” also include a mobile frame, supporting foot and roll support. A chip suction device, extraction adapter as well as high-quality “power cut”, “precision cut” and “multi cut” blades carefully co-ordinated to the various types of devices and ranges of application round off the wide assortment of accessories.Lots of teeth as standard The new “KS 216 Lasercut” chop and mitre saw for wood craftsmen such as carpenters and furniture-makers replaces the “KS 210 Lasercut” and, like its predecessor, dispenses entirely with a traction function. According to the producer, this universal model is suitable for both chop-sawing a variety of materials and for sawing edge trims, smaller planks or aluminium profiles as well as plastic conduits. The cutting output without rotating angle is 120 mm in terms of width and 60 mm in height. To this aim, the tool is already fitted with a 40-tooth HM blade with a diameter of 216 mm and a 1,350 Watt motor, while the “KGS 216” and “KGS 254” innovations work with traction function and are powered by 1,500 and 1,800 Watt motors, respectively. With a blade diameter of 216 and 254 mm, each displaying 48 teeth, they perform exact cuts on stable woods, wooden panels and MDF panels, for example. What’s more, they easily saw thicker planks to maximum widths of 305 mm as well as heights of 65 and 90 mm. The integrated cutting depth limit guarantees a consistent groove depth. Weighing in at 9, 14 and 17.5 kg, respectively, with a compact design, handy handle with rubber coating and special lock feature mean that each of the three machines is easily transported to any building site on any floor. As also explained by Metabo, the devices available from May 2009 are launching an extensive offensive in terms of chop and mitre saws. Over the course of the year, additional powerful supplements with numerous user-friendly features can therefore be anticipated.
