Metabo develops its accessories: new diamond cutting-off wheels, circular saw blades and screwdriver bits

The future of accessories

Metabo: Electric power tools and accessories from a single source / More than 5,000 items in the range / Variety and quality / Clear structures for swift orientation / Three new programmes as proof of competence

Nürtingen, 6 June 2008. As for all electric power tools, Metabo relies on quality and variety when it comes to accessories, too. The range comprises both products for machines made by Metabo and solutions for equipment manufactured under other brands. More than 5,000 items are available. “Our range covers everything – whether for drilling, separating/rough-turning, sawing, grinding/polishing or screwing”, reports Argiris Argiriadis, Director of the strategic Accessories Division. Not least owing to this expanse and depth of range, the division recorded double-digit growth last year and the Nürtingen-based company is anticipating yet another substantial increase for 2008. By launching new ranges for diamond cutting-off wheels, circular saw blades and screwdriver bits, the company meets the requirements for adequate accessories on the part of users of high-quality electric power tools – and all from a single source.

Diamond cutting-off wheels, for a wide variety of materials

Diamond cutting-off wheels from Metabo are broken down into four application groups. An unambiguous colour guide system clearly indicates the respective area of application: green for general or universal building materials, red for concrete, grey for abrasive materials and white for tiles. Within the individual types, distinctions are also made as regards “Professional” and “Classic” quality classes. But what all cutting-off wheels have in common is their very good working results throughout the range: depending on their respective tasks, they swiftly separate asphalt, (reinforced) concrete, eternit, tiles, porous concrete, sand-lime bricks, clinker bricks, mortar, natural sandstone and slate, earthenware ducts, exposed aggregate concrete or clay bricks, according to the Swabian electric power tool specialist.

Apparently, the carefully selected synthetic diamonds featured by the cutting segments ensure above-average performance. Their high concentration and consistent distribution are equally responsible for long service lives as is the case with the tried-and-tested laser welding process. Even cutting segments up to 12 mm in height in the “Professional” quality class are bound extremely securely to the steel blade, thus preventing the danger of injury posed by it breaking off, explains the manufacturer.

Clearly structured range of circular saw blades

Yet more proof of the competence availed of by Metabo in the line of accessories is represented by the clearly structured selection of new circular saw blades. According to the manufacturer, it concentrates on three groups and covers all requirements. The product description states that “Power Cut” stands for swift rough to mid-fine blanks with fast advance in solid wood or structural timber featuring nails and residual concrete. With its wide range and accurate cutting results, “Precision cut” is convincing when it comes to longitudinal and profile cuts in soft and hard wood, for example. “Multi cut” is suitable for universal applications as well as guaranteeing extremely good cutting quality, especially where demanding materials such as laminate, plastic, aluminium, copper or brass profiles are involved. In order to facilitate immediate orientation, labels on the packaging supply users with important application tips.

The new saw blades are based on a combination of precisely lasered steel blades with various tooth formations made of single-variety hard metals. The possibility to resharpen them more than 10 times is an indication of the extremely long service life offered by the producer. Elongation slits – also lasered – ensure low-noise and low-vibration performance.

Screwdriver bits for every conceivable application

The Metabo concept of co-ordinating accessories and electric power tools is equally successful when it comes to the current range of screwdriver bits. This range offers solutions for standard screw heads, i.e. “slotted”, “Phillips”, “Pozidriv”, “Torx” and “hexagon socket” – in four different qualities: “Classic” is an all-rounder while “Torsion” is regarded as particularly durable as torque peaks are absorbed in tough screw applications. The “Diamond” category features small diamond particles on its tip which guarantee a firm position in the screw head thereby preventing surfaces from being damaged. “Stainless Steel” bits are intended for applications involving stainless steel screws or surfaces as well as preventing extraneous rust. All variants are available in various lengths and packing units or as a multi-part range in a box.
