Weeds, treeing and unshapely box trees: no garden is ever entirely finished as there’s always something to be done, regardless of the time of year. But without hard work and green fingers, nature swiftly goes wild. And without the appropriate tools, of course. Garden-lovers who think they already have everything will be thrilled with the new “PowerCutter Li” from Metabo featuring a reliable replaceable lithium-ion power pack. From trimming hedges through cutting soft and hard wood to filigree pruning of box hedges, this nifty all-rounder easily masters any task in a single operation, regardless of the direction, claims the manufacturer. The heart piece of this multi-talent and innovative product is its rotating cutting blade. Apparently, it rotates 1,400 times a minute in no-load run supplying the 7.2-Volt device weighing in at a mere 1 kilogramme with significantly more power than comparable cutting tools. It therefore makes light work of plants up to 8 mm thick as well as swift and accurate trimming in tight spaces. Accidental contact with the blade from the side is prevented by a fixed safety blade mounted above the rotating cutting blade. A transparent hand guard provides additional protection from injury while an ergonomically-shaped and rubberised handle ensures a secure hold when cutting. Apart from numerous applications, the supplier based in Nürtingen also took consideration of the various area sizes and user needs when developing this electric power tool and therefore designed the device in two different versions offering the same functions. While the “PowerCutter Li” offers a power pack capacity of 1.1 ampere-hours (Ah), the “PowerCutter Li (Pro)” is designed for 2.2 Ah and even predestined for “24-hour jobs” thanks to the extra power pack also supplied. With the result that this innovative newcomer is ideal for both amateur gardeners at home and professional landscape gardeners. The “LC 60” charge station is a firm component of the range for both models. Unlike comparable products, it promises by far the shortest charging times of 30 minutes (1.1 Ah) and 60 minutes (2.2 Ah), respectively – a very practical feature for those who enjoy tinkering around outdoors as well as indoors where they also rely on battery-operated devices: These power packs are compatible with the “PowerMaxx Li” and “PowerGrip Li” (drill) screwdrivers offered by Metabo. With a gearbox housing made of aluminium and diamond-ground blade teeth made of high-quality steel, both the “PowerCutter Li” and the “Pro” version represent extensive durability. What’s more, the cutting blade in the “Pro” range can be used on both sides which in turn doubles its lifecycle. The blades on both models can be easily sharpened using a whetstone. Good working results are also ensured by careful storage and regular maintenance which are guaranteed in the form of a slipcase for mounting on the wall as well as the appropriate oil or spray from the accessories range and included in the scope of supply.
