New cordless drill/screwdriver from Metabo with patented "AIR-COOLED" charging technologyMetabo has designed the BSZ series as an all-round tool for professionals, with the BSZ 9.6 now taking the place of the tried and tested BS 9.6 and BST 9.6. For BSZ 12, BSZ 14.4 and BSZ 18 there are no predecessor models. The figures stand for the voltage - ranging from 9.6 to 18 volt. For the new BSZ series it goes without saying that it is not foam but high-quality battery packs with sintered electrodes that have been used. These battery packs are guaranteed to last many times longer than their cheaper counterparts. The no-load speeds of this tool are between 0 and 350 rpm at the lowest voltage on low speed and rise to 0 to 450 rpm for the more powerful models. In the higher speed setting these values are between 0 to 1200 rpm and 0 to 1450 rpm. Speeds can be electronically adjusted. Weights incl. the battery pack range from 1.9 to 2.2 kg.All tools in the BSZ family are characterised by the new ergonomic Z-shape design, the heart-shaped switch and the partially rubber-covered handle - thus ensuring comfortable and almost fatigue-free working. The centre of gravity has been perfectly positioned to guarantee balanced weight distribution. The battery pack release can be operated with one hand, likewise the reversing switch. The tool owes its outstanding performance to the new motors offering optimum efficiency. The three-stage synchromesh gearbox is, of course, equipped with metal teeth. The torques of the BSZ series range between 18 and 62 Nm, depending on the screw-driving conditions, and come with 20 different settings (plus drill setting). The insertion of a screw 5 mm in diameter and 80 mm in length into softwood takes just 8 to 10 seconds. Per battery charge between 90 and 200 such screws can be inserted, depending on the tool and capacity of the battery pack. The four new Impuls professional tools (BSZ 9.6 Impuls to BSZ 18 Impuls) also come with the tried and tested Metabo "Impuls" function. This technology ensures that stubborn screws can be inserted and removed easily - even with damaged screw heads - as well as allowing effortless starting of holes on slippery surfaces such as tiles. Batteries heat up when in use and during charging. Such heat build-ups slow down recharging and shorten service life. The new patented "AIR-COOLED" charging technology reduces the length of the charging process by up to 30% while increasing the life of the battery pack, and in the case of NiMH battery packs by up to 50%. Even before charging, the battery pack is cooled down to the necessary charging temperature and maintained at an optimum level during charging. While cooling prior to possible charging takes up to an hour with a battery pack that has just been used, the "AIR-COOLED" charging technology can manage this in only 10 minutes. The new battery packs are of course compatible with all existing Metabo chargers. The new tools are supplied in a robust craftsman's case and always come with a keyless chuck and two battery packs. Capacities from 1.4 Ah to 2.0 Ah in NiCd (nickel-cadmium) are available as well as 3.0 Ah in NiMH (nickel-metal hydride). Users have the choice of the new AC 30 fast charger or the new ACS 15 super-fast charger. In combination with quality accessories from Metabo's comprehensive range, these new tools are the perfect solution for virtually all drilling and screw-driving applications. In addition, different battery pack assortments in a set case make work even more efficient. As the finishing touch to the all-round and Impuls cordless drill/screwdrivers Metabo has created two so-called ECO types, which are not included in the standard range. The areas of use for the BZ 9.6 SP and BZ 12 SP are light to moderately heavy drilling and screw-driving. Download: Press release as RTF Picture as JPG
